A car ploughed into an alterations shop on George Street in Norwood, Adelaide, around 11:30 am, with witnesses describing the incident as a “miracle” due to the absence of injuries. CCTV footage revealed that the silver Toyota made a U-turn, colliding with three parked vehicles before mounting the footpath and crashing into the store.
The vehicle was seen taking down a street sign and narrowly missing two pedestrians just prior to the crash. Witness Sue Duong recounted the event, describing it as “very loud.” Bystanders quickly rushed to assist the driver, a 46-year-old man from Kent Town, and called emergency services. Firefighters worked to extricate him from the damaged vehicle, which was subsequently towed away.
While the driver sustained minor injuries and received a fine for the incident, shop owner reports indicated he was fortunate to be in the back corner of the premises at the time, avoiding potential injury. Duong reiterated the extraordinary nature of the situation, remarking on the fortunate outcome that could have been far worse.
