Super Retail Group’s CEO and managing director, Anthony Heraghty, has been dismissed effective immediately due to revelations concerning an alleged romantic involvement with the former chief human resources officer, Jane Kelly, at the workplace. The board announced on the morning of the termination that they had received “new information” that prompted their decision, stating that Heraghty’s previous disclosures related to the matter were deemed inadequate.

Super Retail, which includes famous Australian brands such as Rebel Sport, BCF, and Supercheap Auto, informed shareholders that the board would evaluate the implications of this situation on the company and any related issues. As part of the termination, Heraghty’s benefits tied to the company, including unvested incentives and vested but unexercised rights, have been cancelled.

In the interim, David Burns, the current chief financial officer of Super Retail, will step in as acting CEO while the search for a permanent successor to Heraghty commences.
