South Sydney faced off against Canterbury in a match that was unexpectedly halted due to a lightning storm nearing Accor Stadium. The stoppage took place with under nine minutes remaining in the first half while Canterbury was firmly in control, leading the game 18-0.

During the broadcast, Brad Fittler from Nine Sports informed viewers that play was about to be suspended, highlighting the proximity of the lightning, which was within a five-kilometre radius of the venue. Consequently, the NRL officials made the call to take both teams off the field until the adverse weather conditions cleared.

On the scoreboard before the interruption, the Bulldogs had already showcased their dominance with tries scored by Toby Sexton, Marcelo Montoya, and Connor Tracey.

As the match was paused due to safety concerns, spectators and players alike were left to wait, hoping for better weather to resume the thrilling contest.
