An investigation is underway involving South Sydney’s mascot, Charlie Gallico, known as “Reggie The Rabbit,” following allegations of misconduct during a match at Shark Park. A nine-year-old boy reportedly claimed he was pushed in the face by the mascot during the Rabbitohs’ recent defeat to the Sharks.
Both the Sharks and Rabbitohs organisations confirmed their awareness of the incident, which was captured in a TikTok video displaying the mascot interacting with a young Sharks fan. In light of the allegations, the Rabbitohs issued a statement indicating, “We are investigating what happened and will have no further comment to make until our investigation is complete.”
The club has also reached out to the boy’s mother to inform her of the ongoing inquiry. Reports suggest that the investigation was initiated after the child’s mother posted on social media about the incident, prompting the Sharks to take action before relaying the information to the Rabbitohs and the NRL.
As the inquiry progresses, the NRL is conducting its own investigations to gather further details regarding the situation.
