Two tourists reported missing in Tasmania have tragically been found dead, as confirmed by police. Leannedra Kang and Takahiro Toya were due to depart Launceston for Brisbane on June 4, but they never boarded their flight and failed to return their rental vehicle.

The couple, hailing from Brisbane, had been holidaying in the St Helens and Scamander region, with their last known sighting being on June 3 when they left their accommodation in North Hobart.

Authorities located their lifeless bodies near a vehicle that had crashed in northeast Tasmania. This discovery occurred around 5.30pm when police found the car submerged in water off Tebrakunna Road. Inspector Luke Manhood stated that it appears the vehicle veered off a bridge and ended up in the water.

This outcome is devastating, and our deepest condolences are extended to their families and friends during this difficult time. Initial investigations do not indicate any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, although forensic examinations will be conducted as part of standard protocol. A report is expected to be prepared for the coroner. Both victims were in their twenties.
