Police executed a search warrant at the home of 78-year-old Colin Behan, a man facing allegations of indecent acts against children. This action was prompted by a new report from a child who accused Behan of sending inappropriate messages and attempting to procure exploitative material between July and November of 2022. Behan was already in legal trouble for allegedly attempting to rape a young girl in a Deception Bay park and for indecent treatment of a child under the age of 12, with charges being put forth just days ago.
While investigating, officers also heard about an incident in November where Behan allegedly exposed himself to a woman. Despite police opposition, he was granted bail following his court appearance, where he faced multiple new charges related to child exploitation.
In an interview, Behan expressed regret and claimed to hate paedophilia, yet he admitted to having engaged in inappropriate behaviour, stating, “I can’t explain to myself” why he did it. He is set to reappear before a magistrate on 5 March.
