An investigation has been launched following a disturbing audio message received by Jeremy Neal, the LNP candidate for Leichhardt in Queensland. While campaigning last week, Neal discovered a nearly five-minute-long recording on his phone featuring the sounds of gunshots being repeatedly fired.

Neal expressed his alarm upon hearing the message, stating, “It was quite concerning to me. I worried.” He promptly reached out to his family to ensure their safety and reported the incident to the police.

Highlighting the seriousness of such threats, he commented on the ongoing crime concerns in the region, remarking, “This crime epidemic is going on, and people think it’s OK to do this. It’s definitely not.” Neal conveyed a sense of urgency for police to resolve the matter and apprehend those responsible.

As of now, Queensland Police are actively investigating the case, although no suspects have been identified at this time.
