Beaumont Lamarre-Condon faces two charges of murder following the alleged fatal shooting of Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies, aged 29, and television presenter Jesse Baird, 26, in February 2024. Reports indicate that Lamarre-Condon is accused of transporting their bodies in surfboard bags and abandoning them at a rural property in Bungonia, located near Goulburn in New South Wales.
The allegations suggest that the former police officer executed the killings using his service firearm at Baird’s home in an incident that police allege was premeditated, stemming from months of “predatory behaviour” towards Baird, who briefly dated Lamarre-Condon before Baird began a relationship with Davies.
Currently, Lamarre-Condon’s case is ongoing. A forensic psychiatric evaluation was scheduled for early March, but this assessment has yet to occur. Legal Aid lawyer Alex Curnick has informed Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court that a report from the psychiatrist is now expected by April 1. This will allow for a two-month adjournment to give Lamarre-Condon time to consider how he wishes to plead and to facilitate discussions between the defence and prosecution about potential guilty pleas and other contested matters.
Lamarre-Condon is not only facing charges of murder related to domestic violence but also an additional count of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence. He was dismissed from the New South Wales Police Force in mid-March 2024, having joined the force in 2019. Before his police career, he managed a celebrity blog and was known to have associated with various high-profile personalities, including Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.
The case is set to return to court on May 20, where further developments are anticipated. The tragic nature of these events has drawn media attention, highlighting both the personal and societal implications of such violent acts.
