Mountbatten-Windsor, embroiled in a police investigation, was arrested earlier this year on allegations of potentially disclosing classified information to Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy. He was detained for several hours but subsequently released without charges. Authorities conducted searches at two of his residences during the inquiry.

Recent reports indicate that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is working with police by providing guidance related to this case. A spokesperson for the CPS confirmed its early investigative assistance to the Metropolitan Police regarding a 72-year-old male — believed to be former UK ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, who is also facing scrutiny for his connections with Epstein. It is suspected that Mandelson relayed sensitive market information to Epstein while serving as a government minister.

Both Mountbatten-Windsor and Mandelson’s communications with Epstein have been made public by the US Justice Department. Mountbatten-Windsor, aged 66, vehemently denies any wrongdoing linked to his association with Epstein, who passed away in custody in 2019 under controversial circumstances.

Mandelson was also arrested and released without charges earlier this year concerning accusations of misconduct in public office. He has stated his ignorance regarding any criminal activity involving Epstein and has expressed concern for the financier’s victims.

Crown prosecutors typically offer their expertise to police in significant or prolonged investigations, indicating the seriousness of this matter. The ongoing public interest surrounds these high-profile figures and their connections to Epstein, reflecting broader societal concerns about misuse of power and accountability in high places.

For those seeking support, organisations like Lifeline (13 11 14) and Beyond Blue are available, and in emergencies, individuals are advised to contact emergency services by dialling Triple Zero (000).
