Prince Harry has reportedly met his father, King Charles, for the first time in over 18 months during a solo visit to the UK, coinciding with the King’s treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer. Despite multiple trips back to Britain for court appearances since relocating to California with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Harry has not seen his father since February 2024.

The royal duo were spotted arriving at Clarence House, marking a significant moment given their strained relationship following Harry’s departure from royal duties post-marriage. Neither Buckingham Palace nor Harry’s representatives have confirmed the meeting, but speculation about their reunion has increased during Harry’s current charity-focused visit.

Harry, who is fifth in line to the throne, has faced obstacles in maintaining regular contact with his family since ‘Megxit.’ His last opportunity to meet Charles in April fell through due to the King’s state visit to Italy. Meanwhile, Harry’s brother, Prince William, was not present in London during this visit, as he was engaged in official duties in Wales.

This reunion comes against a backdrop of Harry’s expressed desire for reconciliation, compounded by concerns for his father’s health. In a recent interview, he mentioned the uncertainty surrounding Charles’ wellbeing and highlighted that ongoing security issues have hampered their communication.

The King has been seen back in London after spending the summer at Balmoral Castle, and Harry’s visit included stops at various charitable organisations, including the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London. As these events unfold, discussions about the potential for mending familial ties continue to garner public attention.
