Pope Francis is experiencing “slight improvement” following his pneumonia diagnosis in both lungs, according to the latest Vatican update. The 88-year-old pontiff’s clinical condition is stable, with blood tests showing improved inflammatory markers. He has been in hospital since last week for lung-related issues and was diagnosed with pneumonia after a CT scan. Despite the challenges, the Pope remains in good spirits, engaged in work with his closest aides, and enjoyed a peaceful night’s rest in hospital.

On Wednesday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni visited him, noting that he appeared “alert and reactive” during their meeting. Furthermore, a Vatican source reported that Francis was able to sit in a chair and had received the Eucharist prior to lunch. Earlier, it was revealed he is suffering from a polymicrobial infection in his respiratory tract, necessitating adjustments to his treatment.

Many of his followers, including priests and other worshippers, have expressed their concern and hope for his swift recovery. In Buenos Aires, a mass has been organised for his health, reflecting the global sentiment among his supporters. Given his history of respiratory issues and surgeries, there is a collective hope for his return to active duties at St. Peter’s.
