A dramatic incident unfolded at a petrol station in Melbourne’s inner east when a police car was repeatedly rammed during an arrest. The events began around 12.30 am when officers spotted a white BMW with suspected false plates parked outside a 7-Eleven in Hawthorn East.

As police approached the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee but ended up getting the car wedged between a bollard and the front of the store. In an effort to thwart the escape, police positioned their vehicle behind the BMW. However, the driver reversed and rammed the police car multiple times.

To prevent any further escalation, police were able to push the BMW forward and successfully apprehended both a 43-year-old man from Langwarrin and a 31-year-old woman from Doveton. Thankfully, the officers were unharmed during the altercation, while the suspects sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital. They are expected to be interviewed by police once they are discharged from medical care.
