CCTV footage captured the moment police apprehended a woman in Evanston South, Adelaide, accused of driving with nearly five times the legal alcohol limit. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight when the woman, driving her white SUV in the backstreets of Evanston Park, was swiftly intercepted by law enforcement just minutes from her residence.
Upon stopping the vehicle on Greening Drive, police conducted a breath test, revealing a staggering blood alcohol concentration of 0.240. As a result, the 36-year-old woman immediately lost her driving licence and appeared to be escorted into the police vehicle for transport. Her car was subsequently towed and is impounded for the remainder of the month.
This incident underlines the ongoing efforts of police to enforce road safety, as they conduct random alcohol and drug testing around the clock. The crackdown on impaired drivers follows an alarming trend; just two weeks prior, a 41-year-old was arrested for one of the highest recorded drink-driving readings in South Australian history, blowing close to nine times the legal limit while found asleep at the wheel of his car at a service station in Strathalbyn.
