A new initiative by the police has been launched to address alleged assaults and incidents of sexual touching on Sydney’s public transport system. Authorities have issued images of 14 individuals they are keen to identify in connection with various reported incidents.
One notable case involves a 34-year-old man who was reportedly assaulted at Strathfield Station around 9.25pm on December 27. After this incident, he reached out to the police in hopes of gathering more information regarding the event and the perpetrator.
In a separate occurrence, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with a cigarette lighter by another passenger on a bus in Randwick. Police are actively seeking information to identify the man involved in this incident.
Additionally, officers are pursuing a suspect connected to a reported sexual touching incident that took place on the Metro line between Crows Nest and Barangaroo at around 8am on February 3.
Alongside these incidents, police are investigating a further eleven cases, which include assaults on bus drivers and various altercations at train stations. This multifaceted operation demonstrates the police’s commitment to ensuring safety within the public transport network and addressing emerging concerns regarding assaults and harassment.
