NSW Police are intensifying their efforts to identify several youths involved in a violent altercation at Budgewoi Holiday Park on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The incident occurred when approximately 30 children unlawfully entered the park’s pool area on Sunday. When two staff members requested that they leave, the situation escalated drastically.
Reports indicate that the youths launched a coordinated attack, targeting the staff in groups of three to four, which included punches and kicks, some aimed at the heads of the workers while they were on the ground. Bystanders witnessed the violence and intervened to break up the incident, as the group eventually dispersed.
Superintendent Chad Gillies of the NSW Police labelled the attack as “violent” and “unacceptable,” emphasising that such behaviour should not occur in a family-friendly environment. He confirmed that the police have identified several individuals they wish to question, stating that the offenders could face arrest and charges or be addressed through the Youth Offenders Act.
Staff at the holiday park expressed their frustrations, revealing a concerning trend with these aggressive incidents reportedly happening weekly, leading some employees to consider resigning out of fear for their safety. The incident was also captured on video, which may aid in the investigation as police work to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.
