A disconcerting video circulating on social media depicts an altercation on the Gold Coast, where a man can be seen punching through the window of a car in broad daylight. The footage captures a busy scene on Currumburra Road in Ashmore, where a driver of a silver Volkswagen ute is attacked by another individual positioned in the middle of the road.

Following the assault, the ute is observed making an illegal U-turn, careening over a median strip to confront a white Holden Commodore sedan. What unfolds next appears to be a chase, with the sedan swerving around the ute, escalating the already tense situation.

The video has garnered considerable attention, with over three million views on Facebook, prompting concerns around road safety. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, even though no formal complaints have been lodged by either of the drivers involved. Acting Superintendent Michelle Piket stated, “No complaints have been made by either of those drivers at this stage; however, we are making enquiries to locate those drivers.”

She urged motorists to remain calm while driving to ensure safety on the roads, particularly as the police gear up for Operation Cold Snap, aimed at combating dangerous driving during the school holidays.
