Authorities are actively investigating the tragic double homicide of Clinton David Brink and Cristen Amanda Brink, who were fatally attacked while hiking in Devil’s Den State Park, Arkansas. Their two young daughters, aged 7 and 9, were present during the incident but fortunately remained unharmed and are now with family.
The park, located in a rural and rugged area, is known for its thick vegetation and lack of cellphone coverage, complicating communication for those in the vicinity. Police were alerted to the suspected murders around 2:40 PM on Saturday and are currently searching for a male suspect fitting a specific description: a white man of medium build, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with rolled-up sleeves, dark trousers, a dark ball cap, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. He was last seen carrying a black backpack and driving away from the park in a black four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with its licence plate obscured by tape.
In light of this distressing incident, the area has been cordoned off, and law enforcement is urging park visitors to share any photographs that may aid in the investigation. Local residents have also been asked to review their security and game camera footage for helpful evidence.
Shea Lewis, the secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic events, stating, “Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.” He reassured the public that the safety of visitors and staff is of utmost importance, and law enforcement presence at state parks has been strengthened as the investigation unfolds.
This incident has left the local community in shock, and authorities are committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the Brinks’ deaths while ensuring the safety of park-goers.
