Two individuals were arrested, and two others were taken to hospital following an incident at the NRL match between the Wests Tigers and South Sydney Rabbitohs at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in south-west Sydney. The altercation, involving rival fans, reportedly began around 7.50 pm.
During the commotion, one police officer was allegedly struck in the head, while another was punched in the face, prompting additional officers to respond to the situation. As a result of the violence, a 30-year-old man has been charged with affray, two counts of assaulting police officers, and resisting arrest; he has been granted bail and is set to appear in court on June 12. Additionally, a 28-year-old man faces assault charges and will receive a court attendance notice.
The fracas led to the eviction of four individuals from the stadium. Meanwhile, the police officers involved have been treated for minor injuries, including cuts and bruises.
