A police officer, Constable Jayden Turk, has been charged with the alleged rape of a woman on two occasions within a thirty-minute period. The incidents are reported to have occurred after the officer met the woman at a hotel in September 2023. Following an extensive investigation, the 25-year-old Turk was taken into custody in February 2024, facing two counts of sexual intercourse without consent.

Following his arrest, Turk was suspended without pay from the New South Wales Police Force and had not held active duty since November 2023. During a recent court hearing at Newtown Local Court, it was disclosed that most of the evidence against him has been collated; however, the prosecution is awaiting an additional report to proceed further. Magistrate Alexander Mijovich has set a three-month adjournment for the case, allowing time for discussions between the involved parties.

Despite the significant charges, Turk maintained silence as he left the courthouse with his legal representation, appearing somber with his head down. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to return to court on July 8, 2024.
