The family of Tayla Spies, a Queensland mother missing for three weeks, has made a poignant public plea for assistance in locating her. The last sighting of the 29-year-old was in Surat, while the search area has proven extensive, with police struggling to define a starting point. Twenty seconds of CCTV footage captured her movements in a remote car park, approximately 80 kilometres west of Roma, marking her final known whereabouts.
Authorities have reported that her vehicle, a 2017 Toyota Hilux, was seen near the Cobb & Co Changing Station shortly after 11am on February 2, the day she vanished. The search has spanned the vast Maranoa region, covering around 9,000 square kilometres, which complicates efforts for ground-based searches. Queensland police have deployed aerial resources in hopes of uncovering leads.
Tayla’s sister, Rebecca, expressed the family’s heartache, stating, “The pain and enormity of her absence increases with each day,” and reassured Tayla that she is deeply loved. Police are now appealing to local farmers to inspect their properties for any signs of Tayla or her vehicle as the search continues intensively.
