Queensland Police have provided new insights regarding the ongoing manhunt for an individual implicated in an alarming incident from last year in Brisbane, where he was accused of throwing hot coffee at a baby. Acting Commissioner Shane Chelepy stated in an interview that the investigation remains active and is being thoroughly pursued.

The disturbing event involved a nine-month-old boy who suffered severe burns to his face, arms, and legs, resulting in four surgical procedures following the attack. Chelepy expressed the emotional toll the case has taken on the investigators, acknowledging their relentless commitment to resolving this serious matter. He noted, “This was a horrible incident that happened almost a year ago, it struck our investigators pretty hard,” highlighting the gravity of the situation.

While Chelepy is limited in what he can disclose, he confirmed that police are collaborating with international partners to make progress in the case and are implementing a variety of investigative strategies. This includes a proactive approach to maintain the integrity of their operations throughout the investigation. Although he avoided specifics regarding any recent actions in China, he assured that the search for the suspect is ongoing.

The suspect’s name has surfaced in Chinese media, but Queensland authorities have chosen not to comment further on this, as they continue their efforts in the international manhunt. Chelepy’s remarks indicate a dedication to ensuring justice for the young victim and a commitment to coordinating effectively with global law enforcement to apprehend the offender.
