Authorities are currently investigating the arrest of 42-year-old Gaurav Kundi, who is on life support at the Royal Adelaide Hospital after losing consciousness during the incident. Police Commissioner Grant Stevens reviewed footage from an officer’s body camera and stated that the officers involved appeared to have acted within the scope of their training.

Kundi’s arrest took place on Payneham Road in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, where he and his partner, Amritpal Kaur, pleaded that he had done nothing wrong. Video footage from the arrest, obtained by 9News, shows Kundi being forcibly restrained on the ground by two officers, during which Kaur stopped filming in distress as one officer reportedly placed a knee on Kundi’s neck.

The nature of the incident has raised significant concerns, sparking calls for accountability. As of now, both officers involved in the arrest remain on duty, although their identities have not been disclosed due to the ongoing investigation. While 9News has reached out to the police regarding Kaur’s allegations and the operational status of the officers’ body cameras, no responses have been provided thus far.

The situation continues to unfold, with community scrutiny growing around police conduct and the treatment of individuals during arrests.
