A video released by police depicts a man who reportedly climbed onto a roof in Brassall, near Ipswich, in a bid to escape arrest. The incident unfolded as Polair, the police helicopter, tracked the suspect, who was hanging out of the driver’s side window of a stolen Honda HR-V before abandoning the vehicle and scaling a rooftop.

The 20-year-old was allegedly driving the Honda when it collided with a Hyundai i40 on Pine Mountain Road around 8:40 am on Wednesday. After the crash, he fled the scene, leading police on a reckless chase through various streets, at times dangerously weaving between vehicles in a busy intersection.

During his attempts to evade capture, multiple police vehicles were reportedly damaged. Authorities now face the task of reviewing the footage for further evidence against the young man.

In connection with the incident, he has been charged with several offences, including two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of dangerous drugs, along with one count each of evading police, trespassing, and driving without a licence.
