During a recent photo opportunity in Darwin, television cameraman Ghaith Nadir from Channel 10 suffered a scratched forehead when a misfired ball was kicked by Opposition Leader Peter Dutton. The incident occurred while Nadir was filming at a local football club, and the unexpected kick caused the ball to strike him directly in the head.

Dutton, initially realising the mishap, exclaimed, “Oh got him,” before acknowledging that the kick had resulted in a visible injury, prompting him to say, “Oh it split him open too. Oh no.” Concerned for the cameraman, Dutton approached Nadir to check on his wellbeing. Thankfully, despite the injury, Nadir was not severely hurt. The Opposition Leader then shook hands with him, demonstrating his willingness to ensure Nadir was alright.

The accident took place shortly after Dutton had unveiled a new policy regarding the buyback of the Port of Darwin, which had been leased for 99 years to a private entity with ties to China. This controversial deal, which was approved under the previous Coalition government led by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, has stirred discussions surrounding national security and foreign investment.

This amusing yet slightly alarming incident comes on the heels of another notable occurrence involving a political leader, as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese recently took a tumble while on stage at another event. The unexpected happenings add a light-hearted tone to the often serious nature of political discourse.
