During Nine’s The Great Debate, participants exchanged frequent accusations of dishonesty while discussing issues such as the cost of living, energy policy, housing, and the approach to US President Donald Trump. Nine’s political editor, Charles Croucher, alongside radio host Deborah Knight, attributed a narrow victory to Peter Dutton. In contrast, Phil Coorey, political editor of the Australian Financial Review, deemed Anthony Albanese to have edged out slightly ahead. Croucher remarked, “It was very close, but I believe this was Peter Dutton’s strongest performance… I think he won it by a nose.”
