A 39-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening police with a firearm and leading them on a high-speed chase in a Hyundai Tucson station wagon. The incident occurred yesterday morning around 7:25 am on Gibson Road in Beechboro, located in Perth’s north-east. When police attempted to pull him over, the suspect allegedly resisted, brandished a weapon, and sped away at speeds reaching 200 km/h while being monitored by the Western Australia Police Air Wing.

The chase concluded approximately 30 minutes later when the man crashed at a T-junction in Banjup. He was subsequently arrested on the scene, and the firearm was recovered in Beechboro. The individual, who resides in East Perth, is scheduled to appear in Midland Magistrates Court today.

He has been charged with several offences, including reckless driving to evade arrest, failing to comply with police directions, driving without a valid licence, operating a vehicle with false plates, drug-related offences, and illegal possession of a firearm. The police investigation continues as they gather more evidence regarding the incident.
