Authorities have confirmed the tragic death of a 22-year-old man at the Perisher Ski Resort, located in the Snowy Mountains, approximately 20 kilometres west of Jindabyne. The incident occurred during a snowboarding event on the advanced terrain of the Front Valley terrain park, where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Perisher Ski Resort management stated that immediate emergency services were alerted at around 2.30pm today, but despite the efforts of paramedics, they were unable to save him. Nathan Butterworth, vice president and general manager of Perisher, expressed profound condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, stating that the resort community shares in their grief.
The Front Valley terrain park, noted for its “world-class and critically” acclaimed slopestyle features, is renowned for hosting some of the largest jumps and rails in the resort. It attracts numerous professional athletes each season, drawn by its constantly evolving challenges and features.
The ski resort community is mourning this loss, and officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
