P-plater reportedly caught speeding at 196km/h in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs

A provisional driver in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs was caught speeding at a staggering 196 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, according to police reports.

The incident occurred around 3am when officers from the Nunawading Highway Patrol stopped the 18-year-old who was driving a high-performance vehicle on the Monash Freeway in Glen Waverley.

This Berwick resident is likely to face multiple charges, including exceeding the speed limit, dangerous driving, operating a prohibited vehicle, and various other traffic offences. Consequently, the driver’s Volkswagen Golf R has been impounded for a month, incurring a fee of $1,050.
