Recovery efforts are ongoing on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, where over 1,100 buildings have been declared unfit for habitation following recent flooding. The New South Wales State Emergency Service (SES) is collaborating with the NSW Reconstruction Authority to oversee the clean-up and damage assessments across tens of thousands of homes.
To date, officials have conducted more than 10,070 assessments that encompass residential, commercial, industrial, and outbuildings. Assistant Commissioner Colin Malone of the NSW SES expressed the agency’s commitment to working closely with recovery partners to provide vital support in the weeks ahead.
He noted that operations to resupply isolated communities continue, although some outstanding jobs remain. With dedicated community members and emergency service partners rallying to assist, progress is being made swiftly. Malone extended his gratitude to local SES volunteers, many of whom have prioritised aiding their neighbours despite the risk to their own homes from the floods.
He acknowledged the challenging circumstances that many communities across NSW have faced in recent weeks, commending the remarkable dedication of all personnel and volunteers involved in the relief and recovery efforts. Overall, the situation remains critical, but concerted efforts are ensuring that progress is being made amid the adversity.
