A former Melbourne doctor, Ryan Cho, aged 27, is facing more than 100 new charges for allegedly recording colleagues in bathroom cubicles across various hospitals in Melbourne. Initially charged last month with six offences related to the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg, where he is accused of secretly filming coworkers in staff toilets using a mobile phone, the investigation has expanded significantly.

Recent developments saw detectives file an additional 127 charges against Cho, encompassing allegations of stalking, producing intimate images, and the installation of optical surveillance equipment. These new charges pertain not just to the Austin Hospital, but also to incidents at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Authorities are continuing to investigate further medical facilities where Cho may have worked between 2020 and 2025.

The Croydon resident was rearrested last month after police discovered a hard drive containing thousands of graphic images. Forensic analysis revealed over 4,500 intimate videos that allegedly recorded individuals in showers and hospital toilets from 2021 to 2025. These files were reportedly organised into folders named after the hospitals, bathrooms, and the hundreds of victims believed to be involved, predominantly female doctors, nurses, and paramedics.

Cho, who remains in police custody, is set to appear in the Supreme Court soon. Originally from Singapore, he moved to Australia in 2017 to pursue studies at Monash University. The case has raised significant concerns regarding privacy and safety within medical environments, prompting ongoing investigations into his actions during his time in the healthcare sector.
