A tragic incident at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona has resulted in at least one fatality, with several others injured after two private jets collided. According to Kelli Kuester, an aviation planning coordinator, a midsize business jet struck another that was parked on private property. The arriving jet lost control, veering off the runway and colliding with the stationary Gulfstream 200 jet.
Four individuals were aboard the incoming jet from Austin, Texas, while one was present in the parked aircraft. Two passengers sustained injuries and were swiftly transported to trauma centres, with one reported in stable condition at a local hospital. Efforts are underway to recover the deceased.
Scottsdale Fire Department Captain Dave Folio expressed condolences for those involved, adding that the runway is currently closed and will remain so “for the foreseeable future.” Scottsdale Airport serves as a key gateway for jets in and out of the Phoenix area, particularly during significant sporting events like the Waste Management Phoenix Open. This accident follows a series of unfortunate aviation incidents across the United States in recent weeks.
