A tragic three-car collision in Laverton North, Melbourne, last night has left one person dead and two others injured. The accident took place around 10.10pm at the intersection of Dohertys and Fitzgerald roads. Authorities report that a black Ford Ranger travelling east on Fitzgerald Road collided with a silver Mitsubishi heading south on Dohertys Road. Following the initial impact, the Ford struck a traffic signal pole and a stationary grey Volkswagen.

Sadly, a 48-year-old passenger in the backseat of the Ford, from Tarneit, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 33-year-old driver of the Ford, also from Tarneit, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, while the front-seat passenger escaped unhurt. Fortunately, the drivers of the Mitsubishi and Volkswagen were not injured.

The police are conducting an investigation into the incident, and motorists are advised to steer clear of the area during the morning peak hour to allow for ongoing inquiries and clean-up efforts.
