On June 27, 1994, a tragic incident in Matsumoto, Japan, resulted in the loss of eight lives when a refrigerated truck leaked sarin gas onto a residential street. Among the 274 individuals who received medical treatment, numerous witnesses reported seeing a mysterious fog prior to experiencing severe health complications.
Yoshiyuki Kono, a local resident, emerged as the main suspect after a variety of chemicals were discovered in his home. Despite being identified, Kono was never formally charged with any crime. However, the media labelled him the “poison gas man,” leading to a barrage of death threats against him. Compounding the tragedy, his wife remained in a coma after being exposed to the deadly gas.
