A senior constable has been charged in connection with an incident involving two teenagers on an allegedly unregistered trail bike in north-west Sydney. The officer faces allegations of dangerous and negligent driving for reportedly using his police vehicle to intercept the teens in Penrith.
On the evening of November 3, around 6:30 PM, the constable was patrolling Mulgoa Road in response to reports about the unregistered bike. Video footage recorded by the 14-year-old rider of the trail bike appears to show the police car abruptly stopping in front of them, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. The crash led to both boys, aged 14, being thrown from the bike.
Emergency services responded quickly, providing treatment at the scene before transporting the boys to Westmead Children’s Hospital for further care. Following an investigation by the police, the officer has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, as well as negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm.
The senior constable is scheduled to appear in Penrith Local Court next month. In the meantime, his driver’s licence has been suspended, and his employment status is currently under review.
