Ezra Mam is set to return for the Brisbane Broncos in their upcoming match against the St George Illawarra Dragons following his successful Queensland Cup comeback, where he played a critical role in Souths Logan’s 66-10 victory over the Western Clydesdales. Initially reported for a high tackle on prop Lachlan Mears-Crabbe, Mam was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing by the match review committee.

This development allows Mam to re-establish himself in the starting line-up, especially with Ben Hunt sidelined due to injury for approximately six weeks. Mam’s previous suspension for non-playing-related issues caused a nine-week absence from the NRL, and his return comes at a crucial time as several players are eager to secure positions for the State of Origin series.

In round 11, both the Newcastle Knights and Parramatta Eels will face off, while the Canterbury Bulldogs take on the Sydney Roosters. The Eels will benefit from the return of winger Zac Lomax after Bailey Simonsson’s injury. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are expected to adjust their lineup following Jaeman Salmon’s ankle injury.

On Saturday, the Dolphins will clash with the New Zealand Warriors, along with the North Queensland Cowboys hosting the Manly Sea Eagles. The Warriors may see critical players Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and James Fisher-Harris return to boost their chances.

The weekend also features important fixtures such as the Brisbane Broncos versus the Dragons, and the Canberra Raiders facing off against the Gold Coast Titans. The Broncos are expected to field Mam at five-eighth, while the Dragons could make changes due to injuries.

Additionally, the Wests Tigers will host the South Sydney Rabbitohs, with both teams navigating injuries as they strived for key victories to boost their standings as the season presses on. Notably, the Rabbitohs are anticipated to see Alex Johnston return to their lineup.

Head coaches from various teams are keen to solidify their strategies as the competition intensifies, with various players under pressure to perform and secure their spots ahead of the significant State of Origin selection period. Each match over the weekend provides critical opportunities for teams to assert themselves and build momentum as we near the halfway point of the season.
