Sam Burgess has often been considered a potential successor to Wayne Bennett as the head coach of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. However, during his coaching stint at Warrington, Burgess has suggested that his future may not be tied exclusively to Souths. In an interview with Danny Weidler for The Sydney Morning Herald, he expressed a strong passion for coaching in the NRL eventually but stated he is currently enjoying his role in England’s Super League.

Burgess mentioned, “The desire to coach in the NRL one day is definitely something that burns inside me.” While he is committed to his current position at Warrington and values the time he has left on his contract, he is open to the idea of returning to Australia down the line. Importantly, he does not feel obligated to limit his options to just the Rabbitohs when considering his future coaching career.

As he continues to thrive in his role, Burgess is focused on making the most of his experience in England while keeping an eye on potential opportunities back home.
