Matthew Perry, widely known for his role in Friends, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on October 28. While initial reports suggested he drowned, details are still emerging, including indications that he may have suffered a cardiac episode while in a jacuzzi. There were no signs of foul play, and a 911 call was made shortly before he was discovered unresponsive.

In the hours leading up to his death, Perry reportedly engaged in a two-hour pickleball game. He had openly battled addiction to opioid painkillers throughout his life, a struggle that he detailed in his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, published in November 2022. In it, he recounted nearly dying at 49 due to colon complications related to drug use, undergoing multiple surgeries during his recovery.

Despite his fame, Perry struggled in the shadows with substance dependence, revealing he had gone to rehab 15 times. He vividly described the toll addiction took on his health, stating, "I was taking 55 Vicodin a day… I was brutally thin." Reports indicate that drugs were not involved in his recent passing. Perry’s life was marked by both his comedic talent and significant personal challenges, making his death a profound loss to many.
