A critical witness in a fatal shooting in Adelaide has shared her account with 9News, revealing that she was embroiled in a conflict with the victim, Troy Jacka, aged 53, but insists that “nobody was supposed to die.” Emma Pearce, a resident of the home in Munno Para West where Jacka was killed on Saturday evening, claims that he was involved in a confrontation when a gun he was holding discharged.

Pearce stated that her feud with Jacka began after her relationship with his son, Jayden, ended. On the same day as the shooting, she alleged that her property had been vandalised by unknown individuals. Following this, Pearce found herself in an altercation with Jacka at the Smithfield Hotel. She recounted that Jacka later arrived at her home, where the situation escalated dramatically.

During this encounter, Pearce described a vehicle crashing through her fence, and a shotgun being pointed at her, leaving her momentarily frozen in fear amidst the chaos. She eventually retreated to hide in her laundry. After the incident, she recounted discovering Jacka lifeless in her driveway, accompanying her distress with the proclamation that she had never intended for anyone to die that night.

Following the shooting, Pearce revealed extensive damage to her home, including broken windows and doors, and reported that a significant amount of money had been stolen from her. Eyewitnesses captured the harrowing moments leading up to the shooting, including a woman shouting about the presence of a gun just before the shot was fired.

While police investigations are ongoing, no charges have yet been made concerning Jacka’s death. Pearce reiterates her belief that there was no intention for violence to escalate to such a tragic outcome.
