A 47-year-old woman has been arrested following a shocking incident involving her three children aged 10, 13, and 16. Authorities report that she allegedly attacked them with a household knife, resulting in significant injuries to all three. The 10-year-old boy was stabbed twice, while the 13-year-old girl suffered three stab wounds, and the 16-year-old sustained one stab wound alongside multiple lacerations.
After the alleged attack, the mother reportedly turned the knife on herself, inflicting three stab wounds to her abdomen. She has been charged with three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and is currently hospitalised under police guard. During an appearance in Parramatta Local Court, she did not seek bail, which was formally denied. The court case has been adjourned to May 29, and she is expected to remain in custody upon her discharge from the hospital, pending a potential future bail application.
In addition, an interim apprehended violence order has been sought against her by police. The woman’s lawyer described the situation as “tragic” for all parties involved. Following the incident, the three children, one of whom has a disability, were transported to the hospital and are anticipated to make a recovery. They were reportedly asleep in their bedrooms at the time of the attack, which startled their father. He managed to wrest the weapon away from their mother before alerting authorities.
Images from the scene depicted emergency responders, with one child being taken away on a stretcher, clutching a pink teddy bear. Investigators have stated that there was no prior history of domestic violence within the family.
