Police in Queensland are actively searching areas around Gin Gin and Bundaberg for 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop, who has been missing for over a week. Pheobe was last seen on May 15 when her roommates dropped her off at Bundaberg Airport at 8:30 AM for a flight to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend. However, she failed to check in for her flight and did not enter the terminal, as confirmed by CCTV footage reviewed by the police.
The car used by her roommates to take her to the airport, a grey Hyundai ix35, alongside their shared residence in Gin Gin, has been designated as crime scenes. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities are piecing together Pheobe’s movements on the day she disappeared and are urging the public to provide any dash cam or CCTV footage featuring the grey Hyundai ix35, with Queensland registration 414EW3, particularly around Airport Drive, Samuels Road, and Gin Gin.
Pheobe’s family is devastated by her disappearance, with her boyfriend expressing disbelief and heartbreak over the incident. Her mother, Kylie Johnson, described their family’s anguish as “raw and real,” sharing a heartfelt message on social media, urging Pheobe to come home and longing for her unique spirit and presence.
Family members have actively distributed over 400 missing person flyers in Bundaberg and Gin Gin and are searching local rivers and bushland in hopes of finding Pheobe. She is described as being approximately 180 centimetres tall, with a pale complexion, long dyed red hair, and hazel eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a green tank top and grey tracksuit pants and was carrying luggage.
The community and police continue to rally for information to assist in the search for Pheobe, hoping for her safe return.
