Valerie, a dachshund who went missing on Kangaroo Island in South Australia nearly 500 days ago, has reignited hope for her devastated owners, Josh and Georgia. The couple had been on holiday when Valerie disappeared, and since then, the Kangala Wildlife Rescue Group has taken on the challenge of locating their beloved pet.
Recently, footage captured by wildlife cameras showed Valerie appearing well and lively, prompting an emotional response from Georgia. She expressed her joy, noting how touching it was to see their dog moving around again. Although the couple had been doubtful about previous alleged sightings, this new video has invigorated their spirits. Georgia remarked that the chances of finding Valerie seemed more promising now than before.
Josh echoed this sentiment, admitting that just six months prior, they would never have expected to be in such a hopeful position. He explained that the strategy is to gradually coax Valerie back by making her comfortable with food placed in the area, encouraging her to return regularly.
The owners have extended their gratitude to the rescue group for their relentless and costly efforts in the search for Valerie. Their determination has helped maintain the couple’s hope of ultimately reuniting with their cherished sausage dog. With continued monitoring and support, Josh and Georgia remain optimistic that they will soon be able to bring Valerie home.
