Cameron McEvoy of Australia delivered an impressive performance at the world championships on Saturday night, securing gold in the men’s 50m freestyle. This victory comes exactly one year after he triumphed with Olympic gold in Paris in the same event. Competing in Singapore, McEvoy clocked a time of 21.14 seconds, successfully regaining the world title he first won in Fukuoka in 2023.

At the age of 31, McEvoy has also made history, becoming the oldest Australian to capture a gold medal at the world championships. His triumph marks a significant moment not just in his career but also for Australian swimming.

Recently, McEvoy and his wife Madeline welcomed their first child, a son named Hartley, just two weeks prior to his win. In the race, Great Britain’s Benjamin Proud secured the silver medal with a time of 21.26 seconds, while American swimmer Jack Alexy took bronze, finishing in 21.46 seconds.
