An investigation is currently underway following the tragic shooting of Troy Jacka, who was fatally injured outside a residence on Stebonheath Road in Munno Para West, Adelaide. His daughter, Thalia, claims that her father was killed while attempting to protect his son from an ambush at the Smithfield Hotel linked to a dispute involving the son’s ex-girlfriend.
Thalia recounted how Troy, a devoted father to five children, acted in defence of his son during a brutal confrontation, which she says escalated when a group attacked them. During the incident, her brother Jayden was reportedly struck with a baseball bat and severely injured, leading Thalia to believe that her father’s intervention was spurred by this attack.
According to police reports, Troy Jacka was engaged in a physical struggle when a gun he possessed went off, resulting in his death. This led to the arrest of three individuals—two women and a man—who are connected to the earlier altercation at the pub and have been charged with affray. However, none have yet been charged concerning Jacka’s death.
Thalia expressed her devastation over her father’s loss, reflecting on the family’s collective grief and the lingering impact it has had on them. She mentioned visiting the crime scene, stating that the reality of the tragedy has yet to fully sink in. In a display of anger and desperation for justice, Thalia warned of potential retaliation, asserting that if the authorities do not take action, the family might feel compelled to do so themselves.
The investigation into the events surrounding Troy Jacka’s death continues, with authorities examining both the shooting and the earlier altercation at the pub that appears to have instigated these unfortunate events.
