On Friday at around 9:30 am, Alexander Ortiz appeared before a judge in Albuquerque, New Mexico, facing accusations of murdering Alianna Farfan. In a shocking turn of events, Carlos Lucero, Farfan’s uncle, vaulted over the courtroom barrier and began assaulting Ortiz. This prompted an officer alongside Ortiz to fall to the ground, with another man, Pete Ysasi, joining the fray shortly after.

Joeray Ortiz, the accused’s father, intervened to defend his son, engaging in the altercation by throwing punches at Lucero and Ysasi. The chaotic scene escalated, drawing in additional individuals over approximately one minute. Law enforcement eventually regained control, handcuffing Lucero, Ysasi, and Joeray while escorting Ortiz out of the courtroom.

Lucero and Ysasi faced felony charges, which included battery against a peace officer and assault. In a statement to police, Lucero expressed his rationale, stating, “he killed my niece like a coward” and emphasising that the confrontation was “worth every moment.” Conversely, Joeray defended his actions by claiming he was merely trying to “break up the fight.”
