Residents of North Adelaide are rallying behind a multimillion-dollar redevelopment plan following the South Australian government’s acquisition of LIV Golf hosting rights until the 2030s. Their enthusiasm comes with certain conditions to ensure the project moves forward. Following a record turnout of 102,483 fans at the recent event at Grange Golf Club, all eyes will be on North Adelaide as it becomes the new venue from 2028—though the government acknowledges a potential need for contingency plans if the site isn’t ready by then. Premier Peter Malinauskas has assured that the development will be completed by 2028, with a slim chance of finishing by 2027.

Grange Golf Club has revealed it has yet to be approached about hosting the tournament beyond 2026, highlighting that any extension would require member approval. While many local residents support redevelopment, they insist on specific non-negotiables: no fences in public parklands, unrestricted public access, and preservation of mature trees. Anne Moran, a local resident, emphasised that public spaces should remain accessible to all South Australians, and not be monopolised by commercial interests. The local council is set to meet with Malinauskas soon to discuss these matters further.
