Prime Minister Anthony Albanese participated in a traditional church service in Canberra on the eve of the parliamentary session’s restart. Speaking to the press, he highlighted that “many” commitments made by the Labour government are poised to create tangible benefits for Australians. Notably, the HECS reform is anticipated to be passed into law this week, with effects retroactive to July 1.

Albanese emphasised that the suite of measures enacted from July 1 will significantly enhance people’s daily lives. “Each day offers a chance to serve Australians,” he stated, asserting that upcoming legislation will encapsulate this promise.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by his fiancée Jodie Haydon during the Ecumenical Worship Service held at Wesley Uniting Church, signalling the commencement of the 48th parliament.
