The Gold Coast economy is set to benefit from an influx of significant Hollywood productions. One notable upcoming film is Spa Weekend, a comedy featuring a star-studded cast that includes Isla Fisher, Leslie Mann, Michelle Buteau, and Anna Faris. Production will commence this month and is projected to inject approximately $12 million into the local economy.
Spa Weekend is part of a broader wave of international films being produced in the region. Among them is the animated series Voltron, featuring Hollywood star Henry Cavill at Village Roadshow Studios. Furthermore, four other films are currently in production, including the recently announced Bear Country and Monarch, which has just wrapped.
In addition, Paul Rudd and Jack Black are in the Gold Coast hinterland working on a reboot of the 1997 adventure-horror classic, Anaconda. These major projects underscore the Gold Coast’s growing reputation as a vibrant filming location that stimulates both the local economy and the entertainment industry.
