Stou Daniels, Davy Malu Junior Taiao, and Trent Michael Thrupp face charges of murdering Cory Breton, 28, and Iuliana Triscaru, 31, in Kingston, Logan, situated south of Brisbane, on January 24, 2016.
At the beginning of their trial in the Queensland Supreme Court, all three defendants entered not guilty pleas to the double murder charges.
Weeks after the alleged incident, police divers discovered the bodies of Mr Breton and Ms Triscaru submerged in a lagoon, encased in a box and weighed down with concrete blocks and tyres. Due to significant decomposition, medical examiners could not determine the exact cause of death; they concluded the victims either suffocated prior to being disposed of in the water or drowned.
The trial is set to continue for three weeks under the presiding judge, Justice Glenn Martin.
