An 18-year-old has been arrested on murder charges following a fatal stabbing incident at a shopping centre in Melbourne. The altercation occurred at Marriot Waters shopping centre in Lyndhurst on the evening of March 14, around 8:30pm, when police responded to reports of a brawl involving several men.
Upon their arrival, emergency responders found 24-year-old Timothy Leek suffering from significant stab wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
In the wake of the incident, law enforcement apprehended both an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old in Doveton the following afternoon, where they were questioned by investigators. The older suspect has been charged with murder, while the younger individual was released without any charges.
The 18-year-old is set to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
