A group of alleged motorcycle hoons in Victoria have recently been apprehended by undercover police following their online postings showcasing reckless behaviour. These individuals are accused of endangering lives and contributing to Victoria’s road toll by sharing perilous stunts on social media platforms for likes and attention.

Footage acquired by 9News reveals that the group transformed major Melbourne roadways, including the City Link, into illegal racing circuits. It is alleged that they employed devices on their boots to generate sparks on the road, causing hazards for other drivers. Additionally, they reportedly obscured their number plates to evade toll charges and law enforcement.

Senior Constable Adam Mizzi stressed the seriousness of the situation, highlighting the potentially catastrophic outcomes that could occur from a single miscalculation or failure to be seen by other road users. His department has adopted a strict zero-tolerance stance toward such dangerous activities.

Several arrests have been made, and multiple charges laid as police dismantled the group. A 24-year-old man from Caroline Springs evaded media attention when approached by 9News, while another individual declined to respond to inquiries, stating he felt unsafe being filmed. The alarming statistics reveal that there have been at least 38 fatalities and 495 serious injuries from motorcycle accidents in Victoria within the year.

The Greensborough highway patrol is actively addressing this issue, focusing on reckless riding behaviours and safety. Mizzi conveyed his reluctance to visit families to deliver news of a loved one’s injury or death due to motorcycle incidents, emphasizing the stark contrast between tragic consequences and the futile pursuit of social media fame.

Despite the recent detainment of some members of the group, they continue to upload videos of their risky activities online, with Mizzi warning that their actions will eventually catch up with them, even if it takes months. He assured that law enforcement would be vigilant and persistent in holding them accountable for their irresponsible behaviour.
